What it is
Metal 3D printing — also known as metal additive manufacturing — builds fully dense metal parts layer by layer directly from digital files. Unlike conventional machining or casting, there is no tooling, no moulds and no minimum order quantities.
The process enables geometries that are impossible or prohibitively expensive to produce through traditional methods — internal channels, lattice structures, topology-optimised forms and ultra-thin walls — all in a single build with no assembly required.

The process

Design & file preparation
Your 3D CAD file is reviewed and optimised for additive manufacturing — orientation, support structures and build parameters are configured for the chosen alloy and application.

Build
A high-energy laser or electron beam selectively fuses fine metal powder layer by layer, building the part from the ground up in a controlled atmosphere. Each layer is typically 20–60 microns thick.

Post-processing
Parts are removed from the build plate, supports are detached and the component undergoes stress relief, heat treatment, machining or surface finishing as required — ready for end use.
